Castify for Agents: Getting New Talent on your Books

As an agent, you’re always on the search for new talent! It’s a difficult balancing act between talent, sale-ability and conflicts with existing talent on your books. But that shouldn’t mean you should completely close your doors to new talent, rather (in the words of Love Island) keep your options open.

In this article, we will show you how to you can keep a constant inflow of actors seeking representation sending you showreels whilst keeping your emails spam free!

Don’t forget to also check out How to manage your clients’ auditions

Step 1: Create an account

In order to get the features you need to receive self-tape auditions, it is important that you create an account registered as an Agent. To do this, hit the big orange “Sign Up” button and follow the image below.

Agent registration

Step 2: Create a project

To do this, you need to go to the ‘Casting Hub‘ which is an option in the top menu. Next select ‘Projects‘ from the left hand menu. Create a new Project, and call it whatever you’d like (i’d recommend ‘New Clients’ or something similar).

Step 3: Create a folder for submissions

Head into the New Clients project you have just created by clicking on it. Now select ‘Add New Role‘. Create a role called ‘New client submissions‘ or something similar.

For the Role Key, you can either generate a random key or create one yourself. This is the key that prospective clients will use to submit their videos into this folder. In this case the key is  D M T G 0 7

Once you have created the folder it should look something like the below:

Step 4: Share the key to the folder to the public

One way of letting actors know you are accepting submissions is by tweeting/ setting a pinned tweet. Alternatively you can make a post on your Facebook page or website.

Step 5: Sit back, relax and watch the showreels roll in!

We have plenty of guidance to help actors upload and submit their videos. Every so often head back and check your folder to see all the showreels that have been sent to you.

You will see in the ‘projects’ folder that the number of videos has increase

4 videos sent

Click the project and see all the submissions. You can favourite, sort and delete the videos as you see fit! Once you click on the thumbnails you can watch the videos and there will be details to contact actors you wish to see beneath the video.
